This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is incorporated into and forms part of Knock's Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service. Certain uses of the Service may be subject to additional agreements between you and Knock, which supplement and take precedence over this AUP with respect to the subject matter they govern.

Spam and unsolicited communications

Knock has a strong commitment to preventing spam and protecting recipient experience. You may not use the Service to send unsolicited messages to recipients who have not provided appropriate consent in accordance with applicable law.

All messages sent through the Service must be sent only to recipients who have provided prior, express consent to receive the type of communication you intend to send. You may not use the Service to contact recipients whose information was harvested or scraped from websites, obtained from purchased or rented lists, or sourced from third parties without each recipient's specific consent in a manner that does not comply with applicable law or industry standards.

You are responsible for maintaining commercially reasonable spam complaint rates and industry-standard sending practices. If your sending practices result in materially elevated complaint rates, carrier blocking, delivery degradation, or risk to the Service's infrastructure or reputation, Knock may notify you and require prompt remediation. If such issues are not resolved within a reasonable period, Knock may suspend or restrict the affected messaging activities.

To report suspected abuse originating from the Service, contact us at [email protected].

Phishing and fraudulent communications

You may not use the Services to send communications that impersonate any person, company, or entity in a misleading or deceptive manner, use forged or spoofed sender information, or are designed to deceive recipients into disclosing sensitive information or fraudulently obtain money, credentials, or personal data, including communications that misrepresent affiliation with Knock or any third party. Knock reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether your use of the Services violates this section.

SMS and mobile communications

If you use the Service to send SMS or MMS messages, you must comply with all applicable laws governing mobile communications in your recipients' jurisdictions, including, where applicable, laws such as the TCPA, CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, and similar regulations. You are solely responsible for determining which laws apply to your recipients.

Consent. You must obtain express prior written consent from each recipient before sending any SMS or MMS message. Consent must be documented and retained in accordance with applicable law. Upon reasonable request, you agree to provide documentation demonstrating such consent.

Opt-out. You must provide recipients with a clear and reasonable mechanism to opt out of future messages, as required by applicable law. You must honor opt-out requests in accordance with applicable law and industry standards and maintain suppression lists to prevent further messaging to opted-out recipients.

Sender identification. Messages must clearly identify your brand as the sender, as required by applicable law or carrier guidelines.

You may not use the Service to send content that:

  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, or constitutes phishing or spam as described in this AUP;
  • Contains malware, viruses, or other malicious code;
  • Exploits or harms minors in any way;
  • Promotes illegal goods or services; or
